history of chittorgarh fort

Chittorgarh Fort is a large hill fort located in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was built by the Mewar dynasty in the 7th century and served as the capital of the kingdom for over 800 years. The fort is known for its historical significance and architectural beauty, as well as its association with famous Rajput warriors such as Rana Sanga and Maharana Pratap. The fort has been attacked several times, with the most famous sieges occurring in 1303 by Allauddin Khilji and in 1567 by Mughal emperor Akbar. Despite being sacked multiple times, the fort remains an important symbol of Rajput pride and valor.
